Copyright Guidelines on the Intranet

After attending the Emerging Technologies PD on Copyright I intend to revisit the Library Intranet page on copyright guidelines. I will possibly create a page with links to creative commons material for students to access images, music and other educational sites. Information for both staff and students will be expanded to include brief guidelines for the use of more recent digital material including YouTube.

Further guidelines for attibuting work will also be posted on the intranet. The GHS Intranet currently has a copyright guidelines page and research page.

Copyright issues

Copyright is covered in a range of IT classes however many staff members are breaching copyright with the introduction of digital resources. The school had to do the copyright audit several years ago and even in print form this was an issue.

A couple of sites used in Year 8

using iPads in schools

GHS has just purchased 1 iPAD for the Library Resource Centre & 1 for Language Support.  The students have been using them at recess & lunchtime in the library. Most are happy to experiment with book creator and a range of education games (word games etc). Other students have been using the iPad as an ereader and requested several books to be added. I put the movie 'Tomorrow When the War Began' and the text on the ipad. Students have been completing projects as part of the Year 8 English program. It has been great to see them flicking from the movie to the book and then completing the tasks.
